Tahereh Barmi
Hi, I graduated from York University in 2007, achieving a BA in Psychology. Following my registration as an international trained Midwife, I started my midwifery career at St Jacobs Midwives in 2004 where first I learned about Mennonite culture. From 2005-2023, I practiced and lived in Cambridge. Last year, I practiced in Etobicoke, where I held privileges at St Joseph's HC and Toronto Birth Center. Recently, I moved to Mississauga and am excited to join East Mississauga Midwives. I have been involved in the care of many newcomers, non-OHIP clients who felt at ease and informed about their care having a Midwife. Since practicing in Canada, I have attended many different workshops and courses including ALSO, ALARM, MoreOB, Breastfeeding, and more. I have been active preceptor in teaching midwifery students for many years. I am an Emergency Skills instructor, and Neonatal Resuscitation instructor. I provide care in English and Farsi. Beyond midwifery, I enjoy music and dance, watching documentaries and also comics, food tasting, and of course spending quality time with my loved ones. I love to meet people, and look forward to the privilege of being part of your journey of pregnancy, delivery and postpartum care for you and your newborn. |
Lisa Cristini
I am a Registered Midwife at East Mississauga Midwives. Prior to graduating from the Midwifery Education Program at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2013, I studied International Development at Guelph and Trent University. I have travelled and volunteered throughout Europe, Thailand, Jamaica, and Central and South America.
It is a privilege to be able to support women during this time, and I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know you and your family.
Saija Chadha
Hei, hello!
I grew up in Finland where Midwives have been the mainstay of maternity and newborn care since 1776. I've lived in Canada since 2005 and worked in various small business and corporate roles before having a change of heart about what I wanted to do for a living after my youngest child was born. I graduated from McMaster University as a Midwife in 2016 and have worked across the GTA and Ottawa since. I am an amateur competitive cyclist and so when not busy helping out clients, I can be found on roads, trails and mountains across Ontario, US and beyond on my bike. Looking forward to meeting you and being a part of your life journey!
Monique Dupuy
I was born on the west coast and raised on the east coast, and have somehow put down roots in between. Following the birth of my son, I developed a passion for postpartum care which eventually led me to study Midwifery at Toronto Metropolitan University. I began my practice in North York, where I continue to work as a hospitalist when I am not supporting our East Mississauga community.
Prior to becoming a Midwife, I worked as a counsellor for many years. I believe an intrinsic part of midwifery care is the trust fostered between clients and their care team, and I look forward to supporting your family through the unique transitions of parenthood.
I spend most of my time off with my kid: indulging each other in various passion projects, enjoying this part of the world, trying to see the rest of it, and getting back to the ocean just as often as possible.

Shawna Healey
I was introduced to midwifery as a young child when my siblings were born with midwifery care, before it was it was formally integrated into our health care system.
I completed my BHSc in Midwifery after working in health policy and communications, first with The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, then with the Ontario provincial government. I have an MA in Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto, and a BA in English Language and Literature from Queen’s University.
I love that our midwifery model enables us to get to know our clients and support their individual and family needs – especially in the postpartum when life is full of challenges and change. I look forward to caring for you.
